Braised Assorted Wild Mushrooms & Mixed Vegetables in Casserole
4.0

As mentioned yesterday, we’ll be hosting an official K staff dinner at Li Li, tomorrow, for the first time.
Under pressure to make a good impression so that we may continue to hold more events at my favorite restaurant in town, I called for an exploratory dinner last night with some junior staff to try out a few new items for potential inclusion on the menu (see generally 7.083 Crispy-Fried Prawns…), but clearly no to each and every one.
I returned this evening, by myself, to try out a couple more.
Complete opposite of yesterday’s outcome, both dishes tonight turned out to be surefire winners.
The Braised Assorted Wild Mushrooms & Mixed Vegetables in Casserole was amazing. Beyond what the name might suggest, the dish comprised a comprehensive melange of vegetables, including bokchoy, kailan, asparagus, broccoli, baby corn, mushrooms, as well as deep-fried cloves of garlic, plus glass vermicelli, all immersed in a delicate broth of dried shrimp. The ultimate light-yet-hearty-simple-yet-sophisticated (LYHSYS) dish. I could eat this every meal of every day.
