Mission to Korea, Day 5 (see previously 7.325 Mom’s Comfort Food).

In Seoul.  Here for the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarian Forum on Global Health : The Role of Parliamentarians in Achieving Health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs), Thursday to Friday.  While the Organization’s engagement with the 1st Annual Meeting last year had been limited to on-site technical support (see generally 6.178 Sliders), we scaled up the support this year to lead the programme development from the outset, me in charge — my biggest project of the year. Wrapped yesterday.  Back to Manila tonight.

Bibimbap, good-ish as ever (see most recently 7.025 Bibimbap).

  1. Growing up flying KA 1-3 times per year to visit family in Seoul (flying from home in Vancouver, BC), I sometimes crave the whole Bibimbap/Miyeok Guk airline meal… Haven’t had it for years, but seeing your frequent photos of them bring back awesome memories!

      1. I have to be honest and admit that I usually bring a ton of snacks on my flights, whether they’re 50 minutes, or 12 hours. And I adore that Korean Air will give me a cup ramen at any time of night when I’m still buzzed and awake and everyone else has passed out.

  2. on a recent trip from incheon to manila, we’d swiped a couple cup ramyeons from the airport lounge and then in flight asked for hot water, but the attendant said we weren’t allowed to eat anything brought on board. doh.

    1. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. People bring snacks, chips, trail mix, granola bars, sandwiches…. all the time!!! I would have argued that one.

      1. well, i don’t think she could’ve stopped me from munching on trail mix, but i didn’t feel like arguing/begging for hot water.
