On the first weekend of the new year, a quiet Saturday evening, a simple meal was in order, so I prepared the always reliable standby (see 1.101 The At-Home Quick-Fix Go-To Meal – Deluxe!). This time, in recognition of the year that was, already nostalgic for the Philippines that we had left behind, I introduced a new element: sinigang. The tangy soup, providing a welcome counterbalance to the pan-fried items, elevated the experience to a premium level. If this is to become a regular part of AHQFGT, I will need to get more sinigang soup base sachets (see 11.207 Pork Sinigang).

Should I ship a box of sinigang powder?
I’ve tried making it with tamarind, it was more sour, but too tarty for me.
that would be awesome!!
I’ve found that powder here in Montreal! Gave it a try… honestly it was so bracingly sour as prepared according to the package; I couldn’t finish it without diluting it.
i guess it doesn;t seem that sour once you get used to it. they had it for breakfast at the WHO cafeteria at least once a week, so i got used to it.
just curious, what prompted you to buy and try it?
