Many years ago, whenever I was scheduled to fly somewhere, I would always eat my favorite dish for dinner the evening before.  The morbid rationale was to ensure that I would die happy, at least gastronomically, as represented in one final meal, if the plane were to crash.  The dish started out as jjajang myeon, then later mul naeng myeon.  I stopped practicing the ritual when I began living in Manila and working for WHO, because travel was so frequent and proper MNM wasn’t available (jjajang myeon was).

I am scheduled to receive the Pfizer vaccine for Covid-19 tomorrow.  Though I have never been at all concerned about any medical procedure that I have undergone, even surgeries requiring general anesthesia, this one is freaking me out a bit.  (In fact, I write this at 1115 on Monday, 45 minutes before my appointment, and my hands are shaking as I type; my heart isn’t beating faster, but it seems to be beating louder.)

I look forward to reporting nothing when I come out on the other side.

If not, GMTD ends here, before I could finish the 12th cycle, before I could migrate the posts from the former blog site.  It’s become such an integral part of my daily routine that I don’t know whether I would’ve been able to stop of my own accord, so maybe the pandemic was God’s roundabout method for putting an end to GMTD.   It’s been – fun.  I hope my readers, especially DJ and IZ, will continue to read it.  Thanks!
