At long last, I’ve purchased a slicer, which I’d begun to consider back when I was starting to bake my own bread (see generally 12.202 BLT).

“Ostba” – $89.99.
Although my knife skills can deliver a roughly even slice, I wanted the precision that only a machine could achieve when it came to thin sandwich bread.

This also means that I can buy whole blocks of cheese and whole turkey breasts or whole hams (if I can find them – maybe at Costco?) and slice them however and whenever I need.

Case in point: the packaged ham (labelled as “bacon”) is way too thick.
