Since Day One on the job, a major goal had been to clean up the mezzanine of the warehouse. For over a decade, it had been the dumping ground of the recently ousted director, who would not allow anyone to go near it. Early on, I had attempted to start rearranging things and received passive-aggressive resistance from him, so I laid off (not really that urgent). Now back at it, I was shocked to find so much junk: unused collaterals from prior events (e.g., tote bags), decrepit furniture (e.g., book stands), overstock (e.g., unsold books) – all representing wasted company funds, possibly hidden there for that reason – it had to be thrown out over the course of several days, as the dump truck could only carry away a fraction at a time.
To celebrate the completion of the clearance, I treated the team to lunch. As per Korean tradition 0n moving day, we ordered jjajang myeon and other goodies, and ate in the lounge.
