While taking a break this afternoon at work, I was walking up the ramp from the underground parking lot when I tripped on a ledge and stumbled forward, only to catch my foot on another ledge and hyperextend the ankle, suddenly/violently overstretching the calf muscle.  I felt it snap, along with an audible snapping sound (perhaps internally), and fell to the pavement under intense pain.  After several minutes until the pain subsided to a barely tolerable level, I managed to make my way down to the office, very slowly, very carefully.

W drove me to an orthopedic clinic near home, which confirmed through a sonogram that part of the gastrocnemius had in fact been torn.  Fortunately not so severe as to warrant surgery, the doctor put me in a “boot” for 3 weeks and recommended bedrest, hoping that the muscle would recover on its own.

The clinic is located in the same building as the restaurant, which I’d been looking forward to visiting again.

Didn’t love the jjuggimi.  But will definitely look forward to the next visit, probably in 3 weeks.
