Shrimp Rosé Pasta

at Bistro Ryu
-Seongsu, Seongdong, Seoul, Republic of Korea-
with TB
For the 3rd installment of the PAGE TURNERS series, the Korea Joongang Daily (the local partner newspaper of the New York Times) interviewed TB, a co-founder of publishing house Honford Star. Among other notable titles, they published the UK-version of Bora Chung’s Cursed Bunny, which was nominated for the International Booker Prize in 2022, catapulting the author’s global career (as well as that of the translator Anton Hur) and contributing to the global rise of K-Lit. As before, the interview was held at the warehouse.
Starting at 7pm, the interview concluded at nearly 9pm, so TB and I went out afterwards for a quick beer and a bite.

Reconfirming my first impression of the food at this place: “vaguely European, not French, more Italian than anything, very amateur in execution, but forgivably okayish” (see 11.292 Bistro Ryu Salad). The sliced scallion garniture made the pasta taste more Korean than Italian.
