Hotdog – Hacked

Whereas a hotdog that’s topped with condiments and wrapped to go inevitably ends up in a mess when it’s unwrapped later on (see for example 15.175 Giants Dog), Hahn had clued me in on a hack to avoid this problem during our visit to Oracle Park a few weeks back: apply the condiments, then rotate the hotdog so that the condiments are turned to the interior of the bun (see generally 16.222 DeliciousHot Dog).

This method works better with chunky toppings, like onions, which would likely fall off during the rotation step of the original method.

I adapted the method by first taking the hotdog out, placing the condiments inside, then putting the hotdog back.  Of course, this can only be employed in a situation where the hotdog can be temporarily set aside, like at Costco.  In any case, either version of the method seems so stupidly obvious that I can’t believe everyone doesn’t always do it.
