Flux Pub is a Western-style pub.
Just opened a week ago, it’s owned by one of my closest friends from high school, CC.

For the first time ever, I’m using my hard-earned position as a non-power-blogger to actively promote a dining establishment. The deal is as follows: any customer that orders food and makes reference to GMTD will be entitled to a complimentary cocktail. The choice of cocktail from the mixed cocktail menu is up to the customer (mojito excluded). One complimentary cocktail per customer per visit. The promotion will run until the end of July.
While alternatively sampling the food from his menu and discussing the food on GMTD, the idea for the promotion came up. CC seemed both optimistic at the prospect of drumming up business for the new venture and concerned that people might abuse the offer. Assuring him that nobody really reads the blog, much less takes it seriously, I said that I was just curious to see if even a single person would bite.

Although the venue is more of a bar than an actual restaurant, the food is arguably its main attraction. In fact, aside from the owner and a server, the only other staff member is a full-time chef with culinary training; she even wears a chef’s uniform. Rather than being tacked on at the end of the drink menu as an afterthought, the ever-changing food menu is printed out separately. And to maintain quality, the number of food items available on any given day are limited at the chef’s discretion.

This evening, the menu featured just 5 items: caprese salad, salami plate, baked scallops & mushrooms, curry -crusted chicken breasts, and spicy chicken wings. The wings, which tasted somewhat “Chinese” rather than “Latin-American,” were especially good, the sweet spiciness pairing nicely with the cool tanginess of the sour cream dipping sauce. And only 13,000 won for a plate. The other dishes were also well-executed, thoughtfully presented, and reasonably priced.
Come on down and dig in! And get a free drink while you’re at it!
