with KHJ, PHY
KHJ, who makes the vast majority of the venue choices for our occasional dinners together, informed me that he’d discovered a new Chinese joint that he thought that I’d like. Knowing how picky I can be about food, he seems to enjoy the challenge. When he mentioned that the menu also offered pizza, I was sure that the meal would end in disaster.
Fortunately, the food was very good. Nothing fancy, just classic Korean-Chinese favorites. And surprisingly cheap at around 18,000 won per dish. Based on the quality of the ingredients, the well-balanced flavors, and the careful presentation, we speculated that the chef probably had trained/worked in a high-level establishment, maybe in a hotel, then decided to open his own place. Maybe we’ll try the pizza next time.
