Because he once accused Americans of putting ketchup on everything (see comments at 11.185 Spaghetti & Allemansrätten Meatballs).
The cakes were easy enough to prepare, just a few minutes in a pan with oil. They were a bit limp in texture, a bit bland in flavor, but passable with a sprinkle of salt and lots of ketchup.
Not sure whether the dish should be characterized as Swiss or Swedish, or American.
