Grilled Eel with Chili Crisp

Of all the items that I’ve tried pairing chili crisp with over the past couple weeks, grilled eel would’ve seemed the most obvious winner, but it was surprisingly anticlimactic. Can’t explain why, because the smoky sweet meat generally goes so well with any other combination of dips (teriyaki sauce, ssamjang), toppings (raw garlic, kimchi), wraps (lettuce, pickled perilla leaves). Maybe I was just crisped out.
