E-Mart now offers ready-to-eat meal kits branded as “RECIPE BY CHOSUN HOTEL.”  Unclear what this means, as the hotel is technically The Westin Chosun Seoul.  Further, the fine print on the supermarket signage reads “secret recipe developed with the know-how of a chef at Chosun Hotel,” but doesn’t name the chef or the restaurant where he/she works in the hotel.

The Westin Chosun Seoul does in fact host a Chinese restaurant, Hong Yuan, supposedly Cantonese, even though the menu includes jjajang myeon and jjambbong, among other standard Korean-Chinese dishes.

Kits on the left are RECIPE BY CHOSUN HOTEL, while those of the right are LEE KUM KEE, presumably no relation to each other.

Clearly marketing hype but worth a shot at 12,980 won per package.

Mostly miss, slightly hit.  On the plus side, the components were firm and fresh, not in the least bit mushy, as if made recently, nearby.  But beyond texture, the flavors were lifeless and bland, though not terrible.  IZ: “Is this diet food?”

Aside from a few shrimp and slices of squid on top, everything underneath was just vegetables.
