The occasion was a farewell dinner for TG, secondary librarian at SIS, who will be leaving the school at the end of this academic year. Beyond working with him in a professional capacity, he’s become something of a friend, though we’d never socialized outside of school. I also invited HY, whom I run into regularly at SIS but have had dinner with just once (see generallty 12.112 Köttbullar med Potatismos & Sås).
Perfect opportunity to bust out the bottle of Opus One from the cellar. Purchased in 2010 as a gift for my PhD dissertation advisor, who actually refused to accept because the motherfucker claimed never to drink American wine, it’s been carefully stored in my wine fridge for 15 years, starting in Korea, then the Philippines, and back again in Korea. At 20 years old, it’s now peaking.
It was an amazing evening of food and wine and fun and laughter. W was simultaneously shocked and amused by the concept of the dick pic.
TG has invited us to visit him at his farm in Northern California, not far from Berkeley, so I’m sure that our paths will cross again, hopefully soon.
