Spaghetti alle Vongole

Like that time when I bought 2 types of clams to compare them side by side (see generally 11.346 Taste Test: Cyclina v Orient), this time with bajirak (바지락) (aka manila clam aka littleneck clam aka Ruditapes philippinarum) and daehap (대합) (aka orient clam aka Meretrix lusoria), again with spaghetti.   Turns out that daehap is the same thing as baekhap, but bigger – “dae = large/great.”

The daehap were so big – each quadruple the size of a bajirak – that they were difficult to manipulate in the pan, took forever to cook, overwhelmed the serving plate, and made for messy clean-up.

As before, the daehap were fleshier, but the bajirak were tastier (with relatively less hassle).
