Dive Trip to Cebu, Day 5 of 5

In transit, on the way back to Incheon.  With DJ (IZ has already started school, so he and W stayed behind).  Third time in Cebu for both us, first when DJ was not yet 4 (see generally 2.124 Pancit Canton), second when DJ was not yet 7 and IZ was 2 (see generally 5.121 Best Pig … Ever!).  Tagged along with MtG and his family, who got their PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications (DJ also AOW).  Arrived Tuesday, a day early to spend some quality time with DJ.  Dived together Wednesday + Thursday + Friday.  Going home today.

BREAKFAST

Allegro is an international restaurant.  Main dining venue at the resort.  Serves breakfast buffet, à la carte for lunch and dinner, 24-hr room service.

The breakfast buffet wasn’t all that impressive, but the Filipino section offered at least a couple good things every morning.

On the final day, I was very happy to find chicken adobo, my all-time favorite Filipino dish, also the final meal on our prior trip to the Philippines (see previously 16.149 Chicken Adobo with Rice).

Pork Mechado (on a different day).
Beef Noodle Soup (sans noodles).

At the DIY noodle station, the noodles (egg noodles / glass vermicelli) weren’t so good, but the soup (beef / chicken) was quite nice, topped with shredded cabbage + scallions + chili flakes + black pepper – my favorite way to start the day, especially after a night of drinking, is warm and spicy broth.

SNACK

-T’Way Air TW 122-

When we arrived at the airport, DJ realized that he’d left his phone in the taxi.  Which had us running around the terminal in a futile attempt to contact the taxi company.

Then, going through security, my carry-on was flagged because I’d accidentally packed my dive knife.  Fortunately, I was permitted to take the knife back to the counter and send it as checked baggage.

After all that, I had no time to eat anything (a cheeseburger with draft beer would’ve been nice) before boarding the plane.

For whatever reason, the squash had lost its green color and turned grey.
The cardboard packaging didn’t help.

Flying on a budget carrier where meals cost extra, I purchased bibim bap.  Wasn’t really hungry, just curious.  It was the worst in-flight bibim bap in my experience.
