As evidenced by futomaki’s introduction at E-Mart Traders, the roll has truly begun to mainstream in Korea (see initially 14.254 Futomaki).
I’ve yet to encounter futomaki in Korea with sakura denba, which would seem like an easy ingredient to source, leading me to believe that purveyors here simply don’t understand the basics of the dish, like when “Mexican” restaurants here don’t use cilantro – indeed, most attempts have been tragically inept (see for example 15.324 Futomaki; 15.131 Futomaki).
