For some reason, franks from the brand Corn King are considered primo here. An acquaintance of mine was raving about a place specializing in budaej jigae, a dish comprising American junk ingredients, and noted with a decisive air that they used actual Corn King. Maybe the U.S. military base commissaries, the main source of black market goods back in the day, used to stock Corn King, making them the definitive brand among the local populace.

Unfamiliar with the brand, I bought a package to see what the fuss is all about. I failed to see what the fuss is all about. I found them to be bland and pasty. Here, even the chili and salsa from Fog City didn’t help.
