Ciabatta Sandwich with BBQ Brisket & Slaw

Tonight’s sandwiches finished off the final leftover portion of the texturally-sound-yet-tasturally-devoid brisket from last week.

I did a quick braise of the meat in its own juices/fat then sliced it thin.

Meanwhile, I made a cabbage-carrot coleslaw for topping and an improvised BBQ sauce for condiment.  In doing so, I just discovered on the fly that combining A1 Steak Sauce + ketchup + liquid smoke + seasonings (e.g., chili/onion/garlic powders) tastes exactly – EXACTLY – like bottled “BBQ sauce;” I’m going to explore this more in the near future.

The sandwiches turned out well, except that the roof of my mouth was rendered raw from the bread, which had turned hard from the toasting.
