Tortang Talong

3.25

at Sentro 1771

(Serendra Piazza)

-BGC, Taguig-

with RDE, MJK, HRS et al.

With the family soon on the way, I launched the apartment hunt this weekend on the other side of town.  I love living in Malate, but it’s no place to raise kids — not because of any danger (see generally 7.001 Sizzling Stuff Tofu), but too much pollution, grime, concrete.  Most important, I want us to live close to where the boys will be attending school.  So the search begins in Bonifacio Global City.

HRS was showing MJK around, so I tagged along.

Sentro 1771 is a Filipino restaurant chain. Founded 2002. 3 locations, including one in Serendra Piazza, BGC. Specializing in upscale/mainstream/modernized fare.

Towards the end of the day, we ran into RDE (see generally 5.022 Wagyu Course).  He invited us to dinner.

Crispy Drunken Shrimp (3.25) — they would love this.

The food was good.  My favourite dish of the spread, the tortang talong demonstrated an expert hand in its tight construction, as well as balanced seasoning* — no ketchup required.   Same with the other dishes.

*In contrast to the slapdash and inconsistent rendition at Bistro Remedios, which had impressed me at first but increasingly less so every subsequent time, forcing me to abort TEIBR after just 10 visits (see most recently 6.359 Kangkong Lechon).

If the family ends up living in BGC, we may explore Filipino cuisine together at Sentro 1771.
