As far as I can recall, this may be the first GMTD post to feature this kind of thing – don’t even have a tag for it.  Even stranger considering that Cheetos is one of my least favored personal snack items, just happened to have a bag in my office from a recent party.

I was wondering why many American-produced/Mexican-themed chip products – Doritos, Tostitos, Fritos, Cheetos – end in “tos.”  A colleague who speaks Spanish suggested that the suffix is a diminutive that connotes something small and/or cute.
