BREAKING NEWS: McDonald’s has finally come to its senses and brought the Filet-O-Fish to Korea.

As if to make up for lost time, they’ve introduced both Filet-O-Fish and Double Filet-O-Fish.
To make up for lost time, I ordered the Double.

It was great. Warm squishy buns. Creamy tangy tartare sauce. A pair of perfectly deep-fried patties of chunky pollack – quite a mouthful of fish in every bite. A whole piece of cheese, melted from being squished between the two hot patties. I loved it.
Let’s hope it’s here to stay. A lot of other people in the food court were eating them, so the initial reception looks good. [FINGERS CROSSED.]
Then again, do I really need more reason to frequent McDonald’s?

….that half-assed demi slice of cheez has got to be the stupidest cost cutting decision made by McDonald’s. Even now I’m still mad.
from decades back, i vaguely recall watching something, maybe 60 Minutes, featuring the McDonald’s franchise model. they were discussing how they took the Double Cheeseburger, which had 3 buns (like a Big Mac), and to save costs they took out the middle bun, which was only a few pennies per burger but millions at scale. they also noted that it was rebranded as the McDouble, and it ended up selling even better than the Double Cheeseburger.
so maybe the half-cheese was intended to be a cost-saving measure but maybe it does in fact taste better that way? that’s what the Canadian website claims, or did when I was looking into it a couple years ago.
