In Incheon.  Supervising a book fair this week at Chadwick International, our third one at this school (see most recently 14.140 Palak Dal).  As with last year, given the work load and long distance from home, I will be staying in a hotel for the duration, joined by other staff, who will arrive the evening before their shift the following morning.

CI Winter 2024 Book Fair (Day 2 of 3)

Part of the deal is that I buy dinner.

Located 1.7 km from the hotel.

Ryukyung Myeon Ok is a Korean restaurant.  Specializes in northern fare, including Pyeongyang-style mul naeng myeon.  A new addition to the Songdo dining scene (wasn’t there in the spring).

Banchan.
Mushrooms.

The house specialty, at least judging by the amount of real estate and fixtures devoted to it, is mandu jeongol.  A single portion comes with 2 mandu + 70 g of beef + kalguksu + rice + unlimited vegetables and side dishes (banchan).  (An alternative is shabu shabuy, which comes with more meat but no mandu.).

It was good.  The hand-made mandu were very nice.  The vegetables were fresh and varied and plentiful.  An excellent deal at 15,000 won.

Would’ve been better if not for all the garniture, including scallions + gochugaru + sesame seeds, which made for a very messy broth.

The MNM was just okay.  Admittedly, I was already full from the jeongol.
