Try Every Italianish Eatery in Wirye (TEIEW)

Oneul, Wine Hanjan is an Italianish restaurant/bar.  The name of the place means, “Today (oneul), a glass (hanjan) of wine.”  Offers whiskies and wines by the glass and bottle, as well as pastas, pizzas, booze friendly snacks, and a random assortment of oddities, like ddeokbokki and clam chowder.  Franchise chain, currently 50 locations.

Located in the Woosung Medipia Building, directly below Chin Chin (see generally 13.345 Yetnal Tong Dak), next door to (see generally 12.008 Gimbab – Three Ways), two doors down from Guksu Namu (see generally 11.220 Saeng Myeon Guksu).

While trying to avoid franchise chains as a rule, I kinda like this one.  For starters, any opportunity in Wirye for non-Korean cuisine is always welcome, even if not (never is) particularly good or authentic.  It is the only place within walking distance of home that serves whisky.  And the prices for most options are fairly reasonable.

If the “quarter bottle” is in fact a quarter of a bottle, it’d be cheaper to buy 4 quarter bottles than 1 full bottle.
The Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky (2.0): my least preferred choice on the menu, but not willing to spend 50,900 for a quarter bottle of Glenfiddich

The food was okay.  The pasta came in nicely balanced tomato sauce, topped with gooey cheese.  The pizza toppings were fine, though the crust left much to be desired.  In any event, I enjoyed the meal.

Good deal at only 9,900 won.
The crust looked okay from the top, but not when it was flipped over.

Looking forward to going back.
