Having been in London on business since last last Thursday, she returned home this afternoon.

A little goes a long way.

For dinner, I made a huge pot of gukbap, the ultimate Korean comfort food (one of many).  Would’ve splurged on something expensive, like hanwoo oxtail, but the store didn’t have anything good, so I went with pork back bones (see generally 12.132 Some Pig Bones for a Stew), which offers almost the same goodness at a fraction of the cost.  Improvising as always, my benchmark for such meat stews is the ugeoji tang at Gogi Nara (see most recently 15.150 Ugeoji Tang – Takeout), seasoned with combination of doenjang (fermented bean paste) and soy sauce, just a touch of spiciness, loads of cabbage/greens.  With a single pack of bones, weighing in excess of 3 kg, costing less than 12,000 won, I ended up with 10 liters of stew.  We ate about a third tonight.  We’ll finish it off soon enough (see for example 13.347 Kal Gusku (Dweji Gukbap, Part 2)).
