As noted in yesterday’s past, when I first discovered this restaurant, the food was “authentically competent” (see 15.266 Minced Shrimp Omelet (Khai Jiao)), which I meant as sincere high praise, given the state of Thai cuisine in Korea.  It was good enough, apparently, to warrant a repeat visit the very next day, even though this time I didn’t have any reason (vet appointment) to be in the neighborhood.

One aspect somewhat inauthentic is the enormous portion of rice, which I’ve never seen quite so much on a Thai rice plate – though this is one deviation that I welcome personally.

Case in point: the rice is jasmine rice.  This is highly unusual in Korea, partly because jasmine is more expensive, but probably more because Koreans prefer short-grained rice with everything.  However, I believe that the fluffy texture of jasmine works infinitely better with Thai sauces, compared to the stickiness of short grain.
