Coconut is a Thai restaurant. The limited menu offers dishes favored by Koreans, such as tomyam goong, phad Thai, phad poonim pong garee, and of course pho (which is Vietnamese but for some reason has become Thai in Korea). The open kitchen shows a kitchen crew comprised of non-Koreans (presumably Thai). Not a franchise (as far as I could tell).

After taking Louis Le Pieux to the vet to treat a paw infection, I strolled around the neighborhood and discovered Coconut.

The food was good. The flavors and textures were authentically competent, which may not seem like high praise – though in fairness, I’d ordered the most basic items on the menu, nothing to be impressed with – and yet “authentically competent” is a rare accomplishments at Thai restaurants in Korea, especially in such a residential neighborhood. I enjoyed the meal very much.
