Chilli Red Shrimp

After eating dinner at Jumbo Seafood (see generally 15.357 Lobster Braised with Superior Broth), I had purchased a packet each of their black pepper crab sauce, which I used previously as a dipping sauce for lobster (see generally 15.358 Steamed Lobster), and their chilli crab sauce, which I used tonight with shrimp.

The sauce was good. Nowhere near as good as the real thing, but a close approximation out of a box. Better than the product by Prima Taste that I’ve used in the past (see for example 11.323 Chilli Lobster).

However, I didn’t do so well with the shrimp. The same sashimi-grade shrimp that had worked very well in a delicate Cantonese-style stir-fry (see generally 15.364 Red Shrimp with Deep-Fried Doufu , Bamboo Shoots, Broccoli in Eggy Gravy), they seemed somewhat overwhelmed when smothered in a strong sauce. Also a shade undercooked, which left them somewhat limp.
I kept the leftover sauce. Stay tuned.
