Gochu Tongdak
3.0
at Tobongee
-Changgok, Sujeong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea-
solo
Gochu Tongdak is a dish at Tobongee. Their standard fried chicken, tossed in a sweet-spicy glaze.
It was okay. The sauce was nicely balanced, not too sweet, not too spicy. But it made the skin turn soggy, ruining the best part of the dish. Not bad for a change, but I’ll stick to the standard.

As mentioned a couple days back (see 16.015 Dubu Jeon), I’m trying to limit my intake of carbs, things like rice, bread, and pasta, thought that’s painfully difficult to avoid in Korea. My quick-fix solution tonight was to eat a plate of sauced fried chicken, which yes I’m perfectly aware was actually worse than if I’d just eaten a simple carb-centered meal.
