While paccheri is an ideal vehicle for heavy sauces (see for example 14.355 Paccheri Bolognese; 15.062 Paccheri & Meatballs), it really doesn’t work as part of a soup.  The lighter broth kinda slides off, leaving huge ribbons of mostly plain pasta.

The pasta did have some flavor as it had been boiled in the chicken stock, along with the tomatoes (then removed before the other vegetables were added and served separately, so as not to get soggy and cloud the broth).
