Whereas the side dish “Chili con Carne” at this place comprises a plate of fries with a dollop of chili served on top, the fries directly in contact with the sauce get soggy, especially in a takeout/delivery situation.

Tonight, I realized a remedy: order the fries and the chili separately, in which case the chili comes in a gravy boat, so the fries remain crispy.  Same price.  But no chips (so not exactly the same thing).  The banality of my life these days makes trivial discoveries like this seem special.
