Cheeseburger (All the Way)

2.0

at Five Guys

Five Guys is an American restaurant.  Specializes in burgers and fries, made to order.  The “5 guys” originally comprised the husband-wife owners and their 3 sons.  Founded 1986 in Virginia USA, now with over 1,700 locations in 26 countries, including 8 restaurants in Korea.

Located in B1 of Hyundai Department Store.

As the brand didn’t become famous nationally/globally until they began to franchise in 2003, I had never heard of it until they set up shop in Korea in 2023.

The menu does not, but should, indicate that the Cheeseburger is in fact a double cheeseburger, and the Little Cheeseburger is actually a cheeseburger.
The default “all the way” includes mayo + ketchup + mustard + lettuce + pickles + tomatoes + grilled onions + grilled mushrooms.
Free roasted/salted peanuts – taste like America.
Malt vinegar – nice touch.

The Cheeseburger was disappointing.  The sesame seed bun was unremarkable.  The beef patty was somewhat dry and crumbly.  The cheese was not fully melted.  The flavor profile of the “all the way” toppings tasted incoherent.  And finally, the whole thing was a structural disaster – I must’ve used 50 napkins by the end of it.

Already a mess after just 2 bites.
After 4 bites, it was falling apart.

If the opportunity arose, I might consider trying the Little Cheeseburger, as well as the hotdog, both with customized toppings, and give the the fries another chance.

All Beef Hot Dog (2.0): the sausage was legit, but those toppings WTF?!
Fries (Little) (3.0): excellent skin-on flavor, further enhanced with malt vinegar, but limp and somewhat greasy.
