Chicken Burrito

2.5

at John and Matt

-Changgok, Sujeong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea-

solo

John and Matt is a “Mexican” restaurant.  The menu offers only tacos and burritos, as well as nachos and (of course) fries.

Located in the northern part of Wirye Gwangjang, about 100 m from McDonald’s – in fact, I was on my way to McDonald’s when I noticed the big banner.
I suspect the name of the place is a pun on “좋은맛 (jo-eun-mat),” which means “good taste.”
13,800 for a garlic shrimp burrito.

Meh.  The burrito, like most burritos in Korea, had too much lettuce and cabbage, and corn, but the rice was nice.  The garlic shrimp tacos were bland, and included almonds for some reason. I doubt that I’ll be back.

Good news: free cilantro + salsa; bad news: Tabasco.

A thoroughly uninformative exchange:

Me: “Why does the taco have almonds?”

Server: “Only the garlic shrimp taco comes with almonds!”

Me: “But why?”

Server: “Why not?”

Garlic Shrimp Tacos (2.0): almonds?
