Yeonnam Myeongwan aka Yeonnam Dumpling & Noodle is a Korean-Chinese restaurant. Leaning a bit more Chinese with dimsum and daoxiao mian, though the menu also offers standard Korean items (e.g., jjajang myeon). Recently relocated from their original spot in Yeonnam-dong (hence the name).
Come to think of it, I can’t recall ever seeing the use of Simplified Chinese at restaurant in Korea, as restaurants across mainland China would. The main reason is that Korean-Chinese restaurants today continue to follow Traditional Chinese, as it was used when Chinese first immigrated to Korea long before Simplified Chinese was developed; and since the vast majority of these Korean-Chinese restaurant operators have never even been to China, they would have no reason to modernize – indeed, I wonder how many of them even know about Simplified Chinese. Secondarily, more recent culinary imports seem to come from places where Traditional Chinese remains in use, such as Hong Kong and Taiwan.
We had a book fair at SFS this week, ending today. On the way there to supervise the breakdown, I saw this place (I might’ve eaten at the original location, years ago) and dropped by for lunch.
The food was okay.
