While I prefer to add shredded vegetables to zaru soba, both for extra texture and nutritional value (see generally 10.023 Salad Soba) – even if not traditional – IZ likes the dish pure and plain. Wisps of thinly shredded white cabbage seemed a reasonable compromise – but no, he bitched and moaned, as if I’d ruined it entirely, even though he did eat.
