Hidden Edge Crust is a type of pizza developed by Domino’s Pizza Korea.   The edges of the crust are folded over and stuffed with cheese, mashed sweet potato, and sweet red beans.

The concept of cheese-filled crust is not unique to Korea, but the crust featured here was so much more in its god-awful glory. The cheese was labeled “Camembert” but tasted like nothing and had the texture of Cheez Wiz.  The mashed sweet potatoes and sweet red beans were mushy and sickly sweet.   It was worse in actuality than the description would suggest, though about as bad as it looked.  Sweet potato, like corn, is now regarded as an essential topping on Korean pizza.  Ugh.

As dinnertime was approaching, W and I got into a tiff about something or other, making neither of us want to cook, so I picked up the phone to get a simple cheese pizza, but then she insisted on the stupid crust as a measure of revenge because she knew for sure that I would detest the very idea of it, though I couldn’t really object when she swore that she would eat the crusts herself, leaving all the main portion to my fat-ass self.  I had to appreciate the cunning.

Another thing about Korean pizza: sweet pickles on the side.
