Seorisan is a small mountain northeast of Seoul, just 50 km from home.  A mere 5-minute walk from the parking lot is a camp site.  The heavily wooded environment feels like a deep forest, away from civilization.

DJ’s first backpacking experience, and not just for show, his pack contained all of his stuff, including spare clothes, sleeping bag, utensils, head lantern, snacks, drinks, and iPad.
The short walking distance discourages campers from bringing their kitchen sinks, so the sense of wilderness is maintained, sorta.

To minimize my load, I packed only pre-made hand-held prêt-à-manger foods, like sandwiches and burritos, thereby eliminating the need for pot and burner and gas, as well as plates.  No clean-up involved, just throwing away the aluminum foil wrap.  I brought tequila in a water bottle to reduce weight.  My fellow campers appreciated the immediate accessibility of such items as soon as we made camp.  Later, when the others started cooking, I just kicked back and relaxed.

A small but impressive creek, adjacent to the site.
