Beef & Barley Stew

With leftover beef from yesterday (see previously 6.259 Beef Fried Rice). I was careful this time to sear the meat and drain the fat.
The first non-Korean soup that I’ve made in over two and a half years (see most recently 4.040 Chicken Soup with Leeks & Rice), nearly four years since the success of a goulash had seemed to portend a golden age of western stews (see generally 3.305 Beef Goulash).
Now that I eat alone most of the time, at least at home, I appreciate the convenience of one-pot/one-plate meals, so maybe I’ll include more soups/stews in the rotation.
