Quarantine: Day 5 of 14

After living and working 6.5 years in the Philippines, we’re back in Korea, for good (for now).  We arrived on 1 June 2020.  As required by Korean regulations in response to Covid-19, we will spend 14 days under quarantine.  Fortunately, we have a family cabin, so it’ll be more like a long holiday, a well-deserved vacation.  Even if we didn’t have to quarantine, our new apartment will be empty until our stuff arrives from Manila, sometime towards the end of the month, so this is the most comfortable place for us to be (for now).

Apparently, my mother has no brand preference, each item from a different producer.

I don’t know if my mother had purchased these items thinking that we’d eat them together, but they comprised the perfect combination of Korean street food (see generally 4.166 Full Set).

Although I rarely impress myself – whether due to humility or arrogance, not sure – I was quite impressed by my ability to handle four cooking methods simultaneously on a single cooking top: deep-frying (for the ojingeo twigim), boiling (for the odeng), steaming (for the sundae), and braising (for the ddeokbokki), all timed to finish at the same time.

The food itself was just okay, but the meal was fun overall.  Can’t wait to get out of quarantine and get some street food for real.
