Another FIY product from Pulmuone, this one for something called jakjang myeon.  The descriptions on the packaging proclaim the product to represent Beijing-style zhajiang mian (“炸酱面“).  “Jakjang” is an alternative, supposedly more authentic pronunciation of the Chinese characters.  Made from yellow beans, the dish in its original Chinese form is lighter and yet saltier and a bit bitter in contrast to the darker, richer, sweeter black bean jjajang myeon ubiquitous in Korea.  As far as I’m aware, the only place throughout the country where the yellow bean sauce version can be found is Incheon’s Chinatown.  Anyway, this product doesn’t come close.  It just tasted exactly like jjajang myeon.  In fact, I find it hard to believe that the sauce even contains yellow beans at all.   Shame on Pulmuone, which is generally reliable, for putting out crap like this.
