First time eating in my new office.

Twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, our company hosts a warehouse sale for the general public. Over 4 days, customers are invited to roam the stacks, browse the biggest inventory of books in the country, and buy buy buy at extra reduced prices. It’s insane. This year, however, due to the pandemic, the spring sale went virtual. Same this fall, starting today through Saturday. So gratifying to participate as an official member of the team. On one hand, the virtual modality is more relaxed with just us in the building, no pressure of face-to-face customer service. On the other hand, in-person transactions are usually finished on the spot, the customer taking their books with them (big purchases are shipped), and the day is done when the last customer leaves, but virtual orders require every book to be found, wrapped, and shipped by us, and Korean customers expect next day delivery, so we’re here all night until all the orders are filled, and the whole thing starts all over again tomorrow.

Welcome to my new world.
