Truff Hot Sauce is a condiment produced by the American company Truff.  Chili-based, infused with black truffle, approximately 2,500-3,000 Scoville heat units.  Retails for $17.98 on the website.  One of Oprah’s Favorite Things (2022).

I’d never heard of the product until encountering it in the hot sauce section at E-Mart.  What stood out was the price: a whopping 33,500 won (most other hot sauces are well below 10,000 won – e.g., a small bottle of Tabasco = 3,200 won).  So I bought one, on spec, just to see whether a 33,500-won hot sauce could possibly be worth the price.

Coming off a recent tasting of hot sauces paired with deep-fried chicken wings (see 14.017 Hot Ones: The Pantry Edition), I did the same here.

Truff Hot Sauce is excellent.  Beautifully balanced between sweet and tart, well-calibrated level of heat to provide punch but not so much to overwhelm , and delicious chili flavor, with just a hint of truffle.  Not sure if any hot sauce is worth 33,500 won, but it’s one of the best hot sauces that I’ve ever experienced.  Can’t wait to try it with other foods.
