We concluded our book fair at KIS today.  Although we did manage to increase sales by a third, compared to our prior book fair at the school in 2019 (before my time), I was disappointed that we didn’t do better – at DC, for example, we improved by more than 250%.

The good news, from GMTD’s perspective, was that the cafeteria food wasn’t too bad.  Well, the food in general was just okay, but the buffet arrangement – comprising all the options available to the students – allowed for me to choose only what I wanted, in whatever quantities and every day’s spread had at least a couple items that I liked.

On the final day (today), bibimbap was the main thing, which was okay – but it came with a side of doenjang guk, which was very very nice: spicy and rich, a soup for grown-ups, undoubtedly the best individual dish that I’ve experienced at international school cafeterias thus far.
