Gamachi Tongdak (가마치통닭) is a Korean pub chain. Specializes in traditional whole (tong) fried chicken (dak). Founded 2017, with 687 locations listed on the website (unknown if all are currently in operation).
While I generally avoid such straight-to-franchise chains, I make an exception for fried chicken joints. Otherwise, I’d never be able order fried chicken, because they’re all chains. Also, Korean-style fried chicken is all about the right tools and techniques for deep-frying, which are readily amenable to systemetizing/packaging/implementing through the franchise model.
While riding bikes around the neighborhood, we passed by the place and popped in for a quick snack (and a beer, for me).
Pretty good. Not much meat, not much flavor, but really crispy – an ideal accompaniment for ice cold beer.
