French Toast is an American dish.  Consists of white sandwich bread that’s dipped in an egg wash, typically comprising eggs + milk + sugar, sometimes additional flavorings (e.g., vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg), then pan-fried in butter, and served with syrup and/or honey and/or powdered sugar.  Usually consumed at breakfast or brunch.  Similar dishes are common under varying names throughout Europe – in France, it’s called “pain perdu” (lost bread).

Whereas French Toast is an essential quick-fix guaranteed-to-please item when raising kids, I’ve made hundreds of batches for the boys over the years, even though it’s never been featured on GMTD, until today.

In honor of its debut, I got fancy by topping the toast with sliced bananas and crumbled cereal, as well as real maple syrup.

This bottle cost 23,000 won, 10 times more than the cheap stuff (which doesn’t contain maple sap).
