Pan-Seared Salmon with Mashed Potatoes

Unlike most salmon sold at supermarkets in Korea these days, the fillets still had the skins attached.  However, the pieces were cut unevenly, and so thin, that the meat got somewhat overcooked by the time the skins were crispy.
