Samseon Jjambbong

Gosu Jjambbong is a Korean-Chinese restaurant. Despite what the name of the place would suggest – “gosu = master” – the menu is standard, no special emphasis on jjammbbong. Hand-made noodles (suta myeon).

At 3.5 years old, Louis Le Pieux has suffered more than his fair share of health ailments. In addition to a leg fracture and chronic acne, his right eye had a cataract, then retinal detachment, and now glaucoma. Frenchies are genetically prone to disease/injury because they were so inbred to engineer the otherwise perfect dog.

Entrusting him to the care of a vet specializing in canine ophthalmology (the website features a French bulldog), I wandered the neighborhood while waiting for the treatment to finish and came across the restaurant.
The jjambbong is graded on GMTD’s 4-point scale, applied to the dish’s 3 primary components. The final score is the average of the 3 subscores.

BROTH. Good, plus an undercurrent of sprout flavor. Score: 3.5
NOODLES. Cooked to al dente. Pleasing unevenness. Score: 3.75
TOPPINGS. Plenty of squid, octopus, shrimp, mussels, sea snails. Sprouts. A tad too much onion. Score: 3.25

CONCLUSION. Partly hit, mostly miss. Final: 3.5
I will try to drop by whenever LLP has an appointment, which will be often.
