Suje Mul Mandu

at Pungmi

During our recent trip to the Philippines, DJ lost his phone (iPhone 16 that we’d bought him before going to college in August), so I gave him my old phone (but still perfectly usable iPhone 13) and got myself a new phone (iPhone 17).
These are the first photos taken with the new phone.
As far as I can recall, it is the 7th iPhone in GMTD’s history.

Last October, I’d visited the Pungmi branch in front of SIS (see generally 16.293 Yangjangpi). This one, in Wirye Plaza, is the original location.

The mandu was okay. Whereas most neighborhood Korean-Chinese restaurants use frozen dumplings (see for example 16.068 Mul Mandu, Literally), these were handmade (suje = handmade). Pleasantly thick skins. Fillings were bland and skimpy, but they did taste kinda Chinese (see for comparison 16.141 Mul Mandu). The sauce, soy sauce with loads of minced garlic, was nice. Probably won’t order this again, though it gives me a glimmer of hope for other dumplings on the menu.
