This week, COEX is hosting the 2026 SPOEX (Sports Exhibition?), featuring purveyors of sporting goods and services, including scuba diving.

At Scuba Pro Korea, the list prices of gear were in most cases significantly cheaper than the list prices at Scuba Pro Philippines, based on a recent shopping experience in Cebu (see generally 17.002 Rock Lobster in Garlic Sauce) – I’ve always maintained that luxury goods are generally more expensive in the Philippines, because rich people there are so rich that they don’t care about prices – but way higher than what I’d actually paid after the 40% instructor discount (dive instructors in the Philippines can allow students to use their 40% discount across most local dive shops, so long as the shop knows the instructor – even in Cebu, the shop was familiar with Dong Vergara).  I estimate that I saved around $1,000.

Look around for a few minutes then walked across the street for dinner.
